Preparation of Drawings for Manufacturing in Space Frame Roof Systems

Preparation of Drawings for Manufacturing in Space Frame Roof Systems

At Altınyaldız Technical Office, we generally create detailed plans for manufacturing after the design phase. We ensure that the assembly process proceeds smoothly. These plans determine how all building elements will be produced, what materials will be used, what steps the assembly will take, and labor requirements.

  1. Installation Plan

The installation plan shows the sequence of installation operations and how they will be carried out at the construction site where the space roof will be built. These plans include the following information:

  • Assembly order: The order in which the structural elements will be placed. Correct determination of this order in space roof systems is critical to ensure the stability of the roof.
  • Equipment and machinery: Cranes, lifting equipment and other machinery to be used in assembly.
  • Temporary support structures: Support structures and safety measures to be used temporarily during the installation of roof elements.
  • Control and tests: Quality control and test procedures to be carried out at the end of the assembly stages.

** While preparing the assembly plan, I start working from the final manufacturing files. I print our projects on Altınyaldız letterheads in A1, A0 sizes. I am careful with my scale to make it readable and understandable. I list the rods, spheres and bolts of our structural elements in quantity. I detail the assembly plans, taking into account the feedback from our construction sites. Thus, we move forward with the construction site in a controlled manner. For example; I drew our Congress Center and Foyer Building project, which we completed in Congo in 2023, by dividing it into sections because it has 1200 types. I detailed my assembly plans, which consist of five pieces in total

  1. Purlin Plan

The purlin plan includes all the details of the covering carrier profiles to be built on it according to the design of the space roof system. These plans cover:

  • Material list: Materials to be used in structural elements and their properties (for example, steel profiles, fasteners, etc.).
  • Cutting plans: How the steel elements or other building materials will be cut and what dimensions they will be.
  • Purlin-Rafter connections: Locations and details of fasteners, bolts, welds or other assembly methods.
  • Production order: The order in which the elements will be produced and the pre-assembly operations.

** In our Purlin plans, I pay attention to the readability of our types and our scale. I take care to carry out the application with sections taken from our approved projects and to draw our details clearly and to prevent problems that may arise during application.

Careful preparation of assembly and purlin plans for manufacturing ensures that the space roof is constructed correctly and safely.
